A central aim for studying runs of homozygosity (ROHs) in genome-wide SNP data is to detect the effects of autozygosity (stretches of the two homologous chromosomes within the same individual that are identical by descent) on phenotypes.Autozygosity mapping is a powerful method for the identification of recessively inherited disease genes using small inbred families. Typically, microarray SNP genotype data are first used to identify autozygous regions as extended runs of homozygous genotypes.Of the 396,591 SNPs, 395,245 were informative and passed the quality-control checks and were therefore carried over into the autozygosity analysis. With significance suggested on chromosome 20 from preliminary runs on Parkinson's disease, we applied the algorithm on the data of chromosome 20 only with different parameter values to determine the best set of the parameter values ad hoc.
